Cover Reveal: Rush Too Far by Abbi Glines

Hi Everyone!!

Today I am extremely excited to bring you a new cover by a favourite author of mine: RUSH TOO FAR by ABBI GLINES!!!

It’s time to fall all over again…

(Isn't he sexy?)
Summary:
Everyone in Rosemary Beach thinks they know how Rush Finlay and Blaire Wynn fell in love. But Rush is back to tell his side of the story...

Rush has earned every bit of his bad-boy reputation. The three-story beach house, luxury car, and line of girls begging for time between his sheets are the envy of every guy in Rosemary Beach, and Rush handles it all with the laid-back cool of a rock star’s son. All he needs are his best friend, Grant, and his sister, Nan.

Until Blaire Wynn drives into town in her beat-up pickup truck with a pistol under her seat. The Alabama farm girl instantly captures Rush’s attention once he discovers that the angelic beauty is his new stepsister, but he vows to keep his distance. Even if she needs his help. Even if he craves her.

Because Rush knows why Blaire is all alone in the world, forced to ask for help from the father who abandoned her three years ago. And he knows if he gets too close it will destroy Nan, who has a secret connection to Blaire.

He has every reason in the world to stay away from her. Find out why he doesn't.

Note from Abbi: Rush Finlay won readers hearts in Fallen Too Far. However, his side of the story was never told… until now.

RUSH TOO FAR is coming May 6, 2014
If you thought Rush was hot before, you’ve not seen nothing yet.

Meeting Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry + Going to the Vampire Academy Premiere!

Hi Everyone!

I have been a very lucky person these past couple of days. I won tickets toe meet ZOEY DEUTCH and LUCY FRY at Books Kinokuniya Sydney as well as winning tickets to the VAMPIRE ACADEMY PREMIERE!! Book/movie Gods have been very nice to me lately.

So I went to the meet and greet Wednesday 19th of February. Kino was decked out to the max with VA posters which was awesome to see. As I waited for the event to start I got to meet longtime twitter friend Keely (from My Spin On Books_) an her friend. It is so nice to be able to say "I met you in real life!" I also got to see Jaz (from Fiction in Fiction in Fiction) again as I have met her before but it was still awesome, even more so because she gave a copy of IGNITE ME!! (Warner we shall meet again soon).

Me and Jaz

Then we all gathered together to get our wristbands as we were winners, mine was blue and we were told that they were from when Richelle Mead visited Australia years ago, needless to say they were awesome and I kept my blue one! The event began with Felicity (from Penguin Teen Australia) going over the rules then it was full on chat time, which was amazing. Felicity kept us in stitches the entire time and some lucky people got to win awesome prizes!! It was so much fun to be around other bookish people, to hear what they are excited about!

Then the two beautiful actresses arrived and the crowd went WILD! They were both so sweet waving to the crowd and just full of smiles! (And Zoey's Mum, Lea Thompson was there as well!!)

Then the Q&A began with Felicity hosting.

Zoey was very excited by the snacks and food on the table

Zoey and Lucy are both so sweet!

And then the winners got to MEET THEM AAAAH! I got my VA signed!
(We were told no personalisations but Zoey said my name was interesting and did-yay!)

This was honestly one of the best days ever. I had the best time and I got to fangirl with other fangirls!!

And now onto the Vampire Academy Sydney Premiere: Completely spoiler free.

The tickets that I won for the Premiere included walking on the Red Carpet (which was actually a pretty pink colour!), going into the venue for drinks and picture as well as watching the movie. I had the most amazing time!

Me and my plus one (my friend Bronte, who gave me permission to use her face)

My VIP Pass!!

Free Mocktails!

So I have two pictures of the movie screen because we were close to the front so I couldn't get it all

There was a little Q&A with a member of The Hot Hits, Zoey and Lucy which I recorded, but you may need to turn up your volume. Sorry for the crappy quality!

At the Premiere I also got to see Kim and meet Kerrie (from Two Girls and a Novel, Sunny (from A Sunny Spot Blog), Francoise (from My Crazy Bookish World) and though we didn't meet officially I saw Angela (from Krystal Angela Azucena)

I enjoyed the movie! It was funny and witty and damn those Mead Men are FINE! While the movie wasn't entirely look the Vampire Academy book I still enjoyed this adaptation, however there were definitely some parts that I was cringing through because I just thought they were a bit cheesy and overdone. but I believe the that majority of the movie well and truly made up for it. I am very happy to say that I was part of the crowd which screamed when Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky) and Christian (Dom Sherwood) entered the screen! The chemistry between all characters was great, and I absolutely adored the Mason (Cameron Monaghan) scenes. And regardless of what the first trailer portrayed the movie is not all giggles, the action we know from the book was in there. Overall I believe this was a good movie, not perfect but I am anxiously awaiting the next installment (which I really hope is going to happen)

A big thank you to Penguin Teen Australia, Studiocanal Australia, The Hot Hits, Books Kinokuniya Sydney

So that's my recap, let me know what you think!!

Hi Everyone!

I am a huge fan of the Drew + Fable series so it is my honor to bring you the first two chapters of Monica Murphy's FOUR YEARS LATER!!! FOUR YEARS LATER is a New Adult Contemporary Romance and is the final book in the Drew+Fable Series!!! It is being released on March 4th, 2014. Add it to your TBR pile ASAP!
Four Years Later

FOUR YEARS LATER Synopsis:

New Adult bestselling author Monica Murphy winds up her sensational series with this sexy story of two college kids with nothing in common but a bunch of baggage and a burning attraction. Over. That about sums up everything in my life. Suspended from my college football team and forced to cut back my hours at The District bar because of my crappy grades, I can’t keep turning to my sister, Fable, and her pro-football playing husband, Drew, to bail me out. I just can’t seem to find my own way. Weed and sex are irresistible temptations—and it’s messed up that I secretly hand over money to our junkie mom. A tutor is the last thing I want right now—until I get a look at her. Chelsea is not my type at all. She’s smart and totally shy. I’m pretty sure she’s even a virgin. But when she gives me the once over with those piercing blue eyes, I’m really over. But in a different way. I won’t deny her ass is killer, but it’s her brain and the way she seems to crave love—like no one’s ever given her any—that make me want her more than any girl I’ve ever met. But what would someone as seemingly together as her ever see in a screwed up guy like me?

Cover Reveal: All Lined Up by Cora Carmack

Hi Everyone!

Today I am extremely excited to bring you the cover for ALL LINED UP, the first book in Cora Carmack's highly anticipated Rusk University Series! ALL LINED UP is a New Adult Contemporary Romance novel published by William Morrow (an imprint of HarperCollins). It is due to be released on May 13, 2014!!

ABOUT ALL LINED UP:

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.
But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.
Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.
Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.
And neither of them knows how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

“Laughter + heartache + hot sexual tension = the perfect Cora Carmack book.”
—Monica Murphy

Waiting on Wednesday #4

Hi Everyone!

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Each week bloggers highlight the books that they are highly anticipating.

I actually remembered to do a W.O.W post today, yay! This week I am anxiously awaiting on This Side of Salvation!!

Title:  This Side of Salvation

Author: Jeri Smith-Ready

Publisher: Simon Pulse/Simon and Schuster

Release Date: April 1st

Goodreads Synopsis:
Everyone mourns differently. When his older brother was killed, David got angry. As in, fist-meets-someone-else’s-face furious. But his parents? They got religious. David’s still figuring out his relationship with a higher power, but there’s one thing he does know for sure: The closer he gets to new-girl Bailey, the better, brighter, happier, more he feels.

Then his parents start cutting all their worldly ties in to prepare for the Rush, the divine moment when the faithful will be whisked off to Heaven…and they want David to do the same. David’s torn. There’s a big difference between living in the moment and giving up his best friend, varsity baseball, and Bailey—especially Bailey—in hope of salvation.

But when he comes home late from prom, and late for the Rush, to find that his parents have vanished, David is in more trouble than he ever could have imagined..

Ok I am HUGE Jeri Smith-Ready fan every since I read Shade! That Shade Trilogy is absolutely amazing so I have high hopes for for this book. April is way too far away! The blurb is so intriguing and I know I'll be in for an emotional adventure.

What are you waiting on this week?

My Thoughts: Allegiant (Divergent #3) by Veronica Roth

HI Everyone,

Where to start this not-really-a-review but a jumble of thoughts post? Well first and foremost if you haven’t read Allegiant please don’t read this post unless you don’t care if you get spoiled because I am going to talk about a lot of big things that happened in the book.

Title: Allegiant (Divergent #3)

Author: Veronica Roth

Publisher: HarperCollins Australia

Goodreads Synopsis:
The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

Told from a riveting dual perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent

My Thoughts

Now, all things considered, I did enjoy the book. I was extremely worried considering all the reactions to the book since it has been out for a while. I was lucky enough not to get spoiled, but I consider that a miracle! I can understand the reaction of readers and why they didn’t like the book but I wasn’t one of them.

All together there were 3 points to this book that I didn’t enjoy.

1.      I was not happy that Tris died. I understand that that is how Veronica Roth wanted Tris to end up but it was so emotionally heartbreaking that I just didn’t want it to occur. But I do commend Veronica Roth-this author is BRAVE. She didn’t give us a neatly wrapped package because that didn’t fit with the world she had created which is understandable. When were we, as readers, ever promised a happy ending?

2.      I HATED that Uriah died. He was a character that just shouldered what life gave him and moved forward which I loved so I was really upset when he died. I just had hoped that he would have pulled through. He was my second favourite character in the trilogy. (Tobias, Uriah, Tris)

3.      I didn’t enjoy Tris’ attitude towards Tobias when they found out he wasn’t Divergent and wasn’t “Genetically Pure”. Yes she didn’t look at him differently but expecting him to basically just get over it? Big no-no for me. When someone says something like that to you why should you just get over it straight away? Is Tobias not allowed to have feelings unless they are the same as Tris’?

I have to say that I did like seeing through Tobias’ eyes. I really understood him better and he is my favourite character of the trilogy so it was a nice addition. I preferred reading his POV then Tris’. But altogether Veronica Roth’s writing is still simply amazing, everything flowed so effortlessly that I didn’t even realise it was around 1.15am when I finished.

The sweet romance between Tobias and Tris was still there which was a big YES to me. After all the secrets in Insurgent I was worried how it would play out. But they talked about-YES THEY ACTUALLY TALKED. But then also we have a period where Tris was unsure about Tobias with his participation in the attack that got Uriah basically killed. I’d just like to reinforce that Tobias DID NOT KNOW what was going to happen, he didn’t know until Tris told him after. I felt he was grasping at straws to try and figure out who he was since everything was ripped away from him so I do forgive him-especially since he did not actively take part in it.

I am just still a mess of emotions because of this book, but that is the sign of a good book to me. Allegiant was able to bring out basically every possible emotion I have out of me. I will never regret reading this book, as much as it hurt me to read.

Whilst it wasn’t the best book in my eyes that Author Veronica Roth has written it is still a good book and I did like it. Divergent will always be among my top favourite books in the world and I absolutely cannot wait until the movie, but I just don’t think I can read Allegiant again. But that’s fine the characters will live on in my numerous re-reads of Divergent.

I really would love to hear your thoughts about Allegiant!

3 out of 5 stars.

Blog Tour: I See London by Chanel Cleeton

Hi Everyone,

Today I am taking part in my very first official blog tour! I have for you an excerpt from Chanel Cleeton's newly released New Adult book I SEE LONDON!

Title: I See London (I See London #1)

Author: Chanel Cleeton

Publisher:  Harlequin HQN

Goodreads Synopsis:

Maggie Carpenter is ready for a change— and to leave her ordinary life in South Carolina behind. But when she accepts a scholarship to the International School in London, a university attended by the privileged offspring of diplomats and world leaders, Maggie might get more than she bargained for.

When Maggie meets Hugh, a twentysomething British guy, she finds herself living the life she always wanted. Suddenly she’s riding around the city in a Ferrari, wearing borrowed designer clothes and going to the hottest clubs. The only problem? Another guy, the one she can’t seem to keep her hands off of.

Half French, half Lebanese, and ridiculously wealthy, Samir Khouri has made it clear he doesn’t do relationships. He’s the opposite of everything Maggie thought she wanted…and he’s everything she can’t resist. Torn between her dream guy and the boy haunting her dreams, Maggie has to fight for her own happy ending. In a city like London, you never know where you stand, and everything can change in the blink of an eye.

This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.

Excerpt:
This time the flight from Charlotte to London was much easier. I slept most of the way, thanks in part to my ability to land a coveted aisle seat. When we landed in London, I made my way through immigration with ease, grabbed my bags and hopped on the Tube.
I got off the Piccadilly line at Gloucester Road, lucky enough to snag a cab right outside the station. It was only a couple of miles to the school, but not doable with two massive suitcases trailing behind me.
It was still early, the city quiet. There was an odd stillness to London early in the morning. It was as if the city that never slept was taking a break, recharging its batteries, preparing for the day ahead. In a few hours these streets would be filled with people rushing to work, shopkeepers selling candy from the bodega, pubs getting ready to open for lunch. In a few hours the streets would become a sea of languages and people from all over the world.
I loved it.
We hit the park, turning on to High Street Kensington. When the cabbie turned down Embassy Row, I felt the first real sense of excitement—an eagerness to thrust open the door and jump out, bounding up the steps into the school. The building was as beautiful as always, the stone shining in the early-morning light.
“We’re here, luv.”
I handed the cabbie a ten-pound note. He helped me pull my bags up the front steps and I pushed open the entry doors.

I was home.

Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast—and nearly got someone killed.

Now Chelsea has taken a vow of silence—to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting anyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets is hard, not speaking up when she's ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse.

But there's strength in silence, and in the new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way—people she never noticed before; a boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she's done. If only she can forgive herself

Review

Speechless is the second book I have read by author Hannah Harrington and definitely lived up to the high expectations I had since Saving June was a high 4 star read for me. Speechless is an amazing, deep, emotional read of a book and I loved every minute of it! It met and surpassed the expectations that I had.

The cover I own has the image of a teenage girl with the tape across her mouth with the title “Speechless” written across it. I have to say the cover really did fit the plot of the book in a unique way, however I did feel that it was a little plain but still interesting enough that if I had never heard of it I would still pick it up to find out what it’s about.

I absolutely adore the plot as it really showed a real interpretation of teen life. Chelsea is in the popular crowd and would do anything to stay there, including tell her supposed best friend all the secrets that she finds out. Even the one where, at a party, she found two buys kissing, one of which was a peer at her school. That secret is out of her mouth and into the wild without any regard for the consequences-consequences which involves someone ending up in the hospital. Noting how she inevitable caused this, Chelsea enforces a self-imposed vow of silence. The plot isn’t the most elaborate but Hannah Harrington definitely has a way with words as you could feel the emotion just pouring off the page. Chelsea’s guilt, the beautiful relationship between Andy and Noah-one of their scenes made me tear up and the sweet romance between Sam and Chelsea. And who could forget the amazingness that is Asha, what a sweetheart!!

This novel had to deal with a lot of tough and common issues, one of which is bullying. I though the author handled this topic brilliantly. There was no sugar coating and I could easily picture some of these events happening in real high schools. As in the crude language the ‘popular’ individuals use against those who are deemed beneath them, the backstabbing of people who are supposed to be friends, and also how easy it is to want to stay at the top because you are afraid of what will happen to you if you don’t.

Chelsea, our leading lady was definitely unlikeable in the beginning-which was, I thought, exactly what the author intended. Why would we want to like someone who seems to have a stuck up personality who doesn’t care about the privacy of others? But that’s the beauty of this book; you really get to see amazing character growth. It really shows the strong will of Chelsea to go to the police after she finds out what her own actions have unintentionally caused. And I could not even last a day without talking so good on her for sticking to her guns! However even though it was the premise of the book, I found that a teenager would undertake a vow of silence is a bit unbelievable but it was easy to set that aside and enjoy the story. The more we go through the story the more I liked Chelsea. She blossomed into a new, kind character that even though she was getting picked on herself she would try and help others. I adored her friendship with Asha, it was really sweet!

Now to Sam, our love interest. And yes I say “our” because I love him as well. He is not the bad boy, he is not the jerk. Sam is the nice guy, the sweet and charming one who you can’t help but fall in love with. He is so far off the YA boys I have been reading lately it was like a breath of fresh air! Starting off as art partners which turned into wary friends, which blossomed into a sweet romance.

Now I have to say my favourite part of Speechless is with Andy and Noah. I won’t say because I’d rather you experience it yourself. But this scene was sweet and beautiful and I absolutely loved it.

Hannah Harrington has written a beautiful book which I really enjoyed; I hope to read more from her soon!’

5 out of 5 stars all the way!
