The Fault in Our Stars Trailer

Hello There!

The Fault in Our Stars is a young adult novel written by amazing author John Green and the first of his work that I have ever read and one of the few books that has reduced me to crying so much I had to stop reading, take a breath, dry my eyes and clean my glasses because I could honestly not see through them anymore because of my tears!! Without a doubt I loved this book.

I was even lucky enough to get a signed copy from my book shop, Dymocks!! Thanks John Green for signing copies! (Sorry for the crappy quality, I had use my ipod since I no longer have my camera)

And then we heard news that TFiOs was going to be adapted to the big screen and all I could think of was YES!! FINALLY! And then-oh dear goodness I am going to be a mess of tears in front of everyone in the cinema.

Since the announcement we have been teased by cast news, set pictures, interviews, a mini teaser on John Green's Instagram account and now finally we get a trailer!

Here it is:

My Reaction:
I was a mess watching this. I've honestly only read the book once because I have never been in a place where I could handle how emotionally driven TFiOS, yet I could recognize all the quotes spoken. I don't think I have anticipated a movie TRAILER as much I as I did for TFiOS. So when I finally saw it I broke. I was crying and, trust me, it was not a pretty sight! I was also in shock and awe of how, in my opinion, both Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort captured Hazel and Gus perfectly within the two minutes that we saw. I originally was one of the people who was not totally swayed by the casting when it originally was released but was reserving judgement until I saw a trailer but now I can't even picture anyone else as these beloved two characters. This can seem like a pretty extreme reaction to a trailer but I know fans of the book, author and fellow emotional people can understand.

Since I live in Australia I, among others, had to wait for a link to be posted to watch the official trailer. When the Today Show premiered the trailer it was 12.30am and that was fine because I was thinking that the link would go up shortly after. But then it didn't. I kept refreshing my twitter feed, hoping it would pop up. I waited until 3am before I finally caved because I had to be up in 3 hours! But I never would have made it that long if it wasn't for Penguin Teen Australia's reworking of the songs Royals, Tangled's I See The Light and Wrecking Ball to fit to the waiting of the TFiOS trailer as well as Jaz, my awesome twitter buddy and fellow Aussie blogger! Thank you both!! *Squishes*

I absolutely cannot wait for this movie! What did you guys think of the trailer?

Waiting on Wednesday #3

Hi Everyone!

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Each week bloggers highlight the books that they are highly anticipating.

The book I anxiously awaiting this week is The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy #1)

Title: The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy #1)

Author: Marie Rutkoski

Publisher: Farrar, Straus and Giroux BYR

Release Date: March 4th

Goodreads Synopsis:

Winning what you want may cost you everything you love

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions.

One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin.

But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.

Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

Does this not seriously sound AMAZING?!! I've seen so many people on Goodreads and twitter who have loved this book and I can see why. I am desperate to have this in my hands, March is way too far away but since it will be in my birthday month I'll get as a gift to me from me! And that cover. I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT COVER. Even if I didn't love the blurb like I do I would probably buy this book anyway just for this cover.

What are you waiting on this week?

Review

Author Chelsea M. Cameron has been on my radar ever since I read My Favorite Mistake. That book began my love for her books and I have been hooked ever since, so it’s no wonder that when I saw the review/release day blitz sign-ups for the sequel I put my name down straight away! And I am so happy I did. My Sweetest Escape is another fine addition to my love Chelsea M. Cameron books bandwagon!

Oh wow, when I first saw the cover of My Sweetest Escape I kind of stopped everything and just stared. I mean HOT DAMN. It is indeed a sexy cover. A cover like that definitely leaves high expectations for the story inside and for me those expectations were met!

My Sweetest Escape is the story of Jos Archer, younger sister of Renee who we met in MFM. Jos has been going through a rough nine months as tragedy has struck her life. Her whole attitude has changed and now her family is worried so they are making her transfer universities to live with her older sister and her friends. Gone is the prim and proper girl everyone used to know, enter Miss Attitude. It is at her new home that we meet Dusty Sharp, a sexy snarky friend of Hunter who is also a reformed bad boy-and seemingly the perfect match for Jos as he gives all her snark right back to her. The secrets between them though have the power to keep them apart. Chelsea Cameron definitely knows how to write witty and humorous dialogue between all of her characters, making sure everyone has their part as well as singling out the main characters to let their story shine.

Jos is a troubled woman. Due to unexpected tragedy happening to a close friend of hers, Jos decides she needs to refocus her life on what she deems important. That doesn’t include her schooling, thus leading to a worried family. I honestly didn’t like Jos for at least the first quarter to half of this book, which is why I didn’t give My Sweetest Escape a full 5 stars. While I could understand that she is going through an extremely tough time I just found that she was horrible to her family and those trying to help her. I could deal with the fact that she didn’t want to tell anyone what had happened but then completely doing a 180 personality and getting mad at your family for trying to find out what’s wrong and how they can help? I wasn’t on board with that. But thankfully this author knows how to show some excellent character growth! As the story went on I found Jos to be toning down the attitude to a level where it was a comfortable part of the REAL Jos Archer.

Dusty Sharp is our love interest in the novel. And hot damn he is a nice addition to the Chelsea M. Cameron hot guy group! Hunter set the bar extremely high in MFM so I was a little worried how Dusty would shape up but my worries were unnecessary. Dusty is a guy living his second chance at life. With a few skeletons in his own closet, Dusty recognises a kindred sole in Jos and immediately a connection is seen through cutting quips and heated conversation between the two. I love this guy; he is intelligent and witty but also has a sweet and vulnerable side which we learn about with Jos. Also he knows who he wants to be and strives to be a better person for himself and those he cares about. Plus it doesn’t hurt that he is described as quite the good looking guy with mad beat-boxing skills, musical talent AND AN ADORABLE KITTEN WHO HE SNUGGLES WITH. Seriously, how can anyone resist a big tough guy snuggling with a little kitten?! I honestly could keep writing about Dusty but then my review would be all about him!

The sexual chemistry between Jos and Dusty is off the charts and is definitely up there with the chemistry between Hunter and Taylor. This sexy romance just sizzles off the pages and leaves you wanting more. I am seriously ready for the next book written by Chelsea Cameron!

One thing that HAS to be mentioned that I absolutely loved about this book is that WE SEE THE MFM GANG AGAIN. Yes they are present throughout the whole novel THANK GOODNESS! And better yet, Hunter does something so incredibly sweet that I was ready to cry-but I was not reading in my room by myself and my brother was looking at me funny. Seeing everyone again was an added bonus to an amazing story.

And as a side note I just have to mention Hannah, a new friend Jos makes at her new university. I adore this girl, she has had a rough life and yet she still manages to smile and make those around her laugh. I NEED to know more about her and hopefully see that she gets her own HEA! PLEASE!

Chelsea M. Cameron has wowed me once again and I will honestly read anything she writes!

4.5 out of 5 stars!!

Goodreads Synopsis

Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .

Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.

In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without.

Review

Pivot Point is the first book I have read by author Kasie West and I am seriously kicking myself for not reading it earlier. All over Twitter I have been seeing gushing tweets about Pivot Point but honestly even though the blurb was intriguing, the cover just didn’t pull me in enough to really bump it up on my “To Be Read” list. The cover isn’t misleading or bad, in fact it does accurately represent the book, but I wasn’t drawn to it.

The cover aside, I did really love the story line. The tale told between these 343 pages was a unique one. Living in a Compound with people who, like her, have special abilities is Addison (Addie) Coleman. Her special ability is to be able to, when faced with a choice, see the future of both paths of that choice. This ability certainly comes in handy when facing the tough decision of who to live with when her parents’ divorce. The path of choosing each parent is seen through alternating chapters, which thankfully wasn’t confusing. With the way Kasie West has written each chapter the reader clearly know what path they are reading.

Addie, our main character, is a bit hard to review for me. In the beginning of the book I just wasn’t connecting with her. She was just a bit ‘meh’ for me but I was hoping I would grow to like her through the book. This sort of happened. The chapters where Addie chooses to live with her father showed a lot of growth in her character, as well as her willingness to give her new “Normal” life a shot. And I just loved her interactions with Trevor whom she dubbed as her new best friend-which at that point I kind of stared at my book thinking “Are you crazy girl, you want that boy to only be your best friend? Actually that’s fine, give him to me”. But then reading the chapters where Addie chose to live with her mother and started rebelling and changing herself with Duke I felt as though she was taking giant leaps back. The end did see Addie maturing to the stage where she wasn’t in fact thinking of herself with her choices but for which future would be best for everyone.

Now onto our love interest. Now I say ‘interest’ because I did not like Duke and chose not to see him as the real love interest for Addie-I will get back to this later.

Addie meets the cute, charming, swoon-worthy Trevor when her father convinces her to go to a football game with him to make some friends. Off the bat I knew I liked Trevor. He had this laid back, feel-good attitude towards him that instantly attracted me towards his character. It also helped that he was wearing cowboy boots-cowboy boots always help. Their friendship grows and then their relationship blossoms which I loved reading. Addie and Trevor really got to know each other instead of diving straight into a relationship. Trevor, poor guy, has had to deal with the ending of his football career before it even started. However this doesn’t diminish his spirit-except for a few moments which is entirely understandable. Trevor has definitely made the list of my favourite book boyfriends!

Duke. Hmm, where to start with Duke. He has the ability of Telekinesis, the ability to move objects with his mind, which is how we first meet him as his football (he is the football star of Addie’s high school) hits Addie on the head. Ouch right? Duke has this confidence with I perceived as cockiness with a dash of arrogance and I really just didn’t like him. I thought he was too smarmy in the way he chased after Addie. And then I didn’t like him for other reasons in the book which I cannot say.

The side characters are also very important within this novel, as one of them is the essential villain of the story! I have to say that I didn’t see the twist of a particular character happening. I REFUSE TO SPOIL, but I want to so bad so I can discuss with people! Addie’s best friend Laila wasn’t the most likable character for me as the book progressed. She had her moments when she was working in the best interest of helping her friend but other times it just looked like she wasn’t very interest in her best friend’s struggle, however after reading the whole novel I did forgive her a bit as it wasn’t entirely her fault.  If you are going to read Pivot Point, go in with an open mind about Laila.

All and all, Kasie West has written an amazing story which I know that I will be re-reading as soon as I get the chance because I positively adore the world she has created. I absolutely cannot wait for Split Second!!

4 out of 5 stars-a brilliant book!

Waiting on Wednesday #2

People of the world (or at least those of you who check out my blog) HELLO!

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Each week bloggers highlight the books that they are highly anticipating.

I accidentally forgot to do a W.O.W post last week but no matter! This week the book I'm anxiously awaiting on is Split Second (Pivot Point #2)

Title: Split Second (Pivot Point #2)

Author: Kasie West

Publisher: Harper Collins Australia/HarperTeen

Release Date: February 11th

Goodreads Synopsis

Life can change in a split second.

Addie hardly recognizes her life since her parents divorced. Her boyfriend used her. Her best friend betrayed her. She can’t believe this is the future she chose. On top of that, her ability is acting up. She’s always been able to Search the future when presented with a choice. Now she can manipulate and slow down time, too . . . but not without a price.

When Addie’s dad invites her to spend her winter break with him, she jumps at the chance to escape into the Norm world of Dallas, Texas. There she meets the handsome and achingly familiar Trevor. He’s a virtual stranger to her, so why does her heart do a funny flip every time she sees him? But after witnessing secrets that were supposed to stay hidden, Trevor quickly seems more suspicious of Addie than interested in her. And she has an inexplicable desire to change that.

Meanwhile, her best friend, Laila, has a secret of her own: she can restore Addie’s memories . . . once she learns how. But there are powerful people who don’t want to see this happen. Desperate, Laila tries to manipulate Connor, a brooding bad boy from school—but he seems to be the only boy in the Compound immune to her charms. And the only one who can help her.

As Addie and Laila frantically attempt to retrieve the lost memories, Addie must piece together a world she thought she knew before she loses the love she nearly forgot . . . and a future that could change everything.

I only recently read Pivot Point and fell in love with the whole world Kasie West has created (especially Trevor-we all need someone like Trevor!). I cannot wait to dive back into the story as soon as I can get my hands on the book! I'm also very excited to meet this Connor guy, he sounds interesting.

While I wait for Split Second I'll definitely be checking out other books by Kasie West!

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai.
