INSPIRE (Book 1):

Kalliope lives with one purpose.

 To inspire.

As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real. Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal. Her presence may inspire genius. But it breeds madness, too.

About INFLICT (Book 2):

Wilder Bell made a dangerous bargain...

For a chance at love, he gave up his life. History knew Kalliope as an ancient Greek muse, but to Wilder, she was simply the woman he wanted to fall asleep with every night and wake up next to every morning. He made a deal with Hades, but the only thing the Lord of the Underworld deals in is death. Now Wilder is wasting away in a cold and wretched afterlife, waiting for Kalli to come for him. She will come. He has to believe that. Because the alternative is worse than death. Kalliope lived her entire existence knowing that she was both a blessing and a curse to anyone she encountered. Wilder was no different. She loved him, and she got him killed. Now to get him back, she’ll have to face a scheming god, a perilous task, and death itself. But before it’s done, the Underworld will take more from her than she ever thought possible. To be made whole, all must first be lost.

In the Dark (The Rules #2) by Monica Murphy Review

Hello everyone!

I am so sorry for being such a bad blogger but I am now slowly and surely coming back! To kick off I have a review of a book that I really enjoyed: In the Dark (The Rules #2) by Monica Murphy! Unfortunately due to University craziness this will be a mini review. (Also, this post should have been up days ago but Blogger decided to stop working for me!)

In the Dark is the second book in The Rules trilogy, focusing on Gabriel and Lucy. I was a big fan of Fair Game (The Rules #1) so I couldn’t wait to dive into this book! And I was pretty happy with how the whole story was told.

Told through dual POV, In the Dark started off a bit slow for my liking, however when I hit the 30-35% mark the plot started to pick up. After that I found it relatively easy to get lost within the pages and found myself quickly finishing the book! Whilst the plot was a tad predictable at times, I did enjoy author Monica Murphy's writing style.

I have to say though, I did have trouble connecting with Lucy. I honestly just wanted to shake her at times, some of her decisions didn’t sit well with me. I did love Gabriel, but I couldn’t always commit to their connection as a couple either. What I could fully commit too was how hot a lot of their scenes were. And yes I am talking about *those* scenes ;) Monica Murphy sure does know how to write a sexy scene!!

Altogether, Monica Murphy's In the Dark is a wonderful, easy going book. There are some deeper issues  explored within this book which I enjoyed, I just wished that I connected to our leading lady more. However I am still looking forward to Tristan's book!

I give In the Dark a solid 3.5 stars!

*Thank you to WordSmith Publicity for a review copy of In the Dark in exchange for my honest review.*

All Played Out by Cora Carmack (Rusk University #3): Bucket List Blog Tour + Giveaway!

Hello lovely people!

It has been a very long time since I've posted (Bad Pavan!) but I do have a fabulous post for you today! As I am part of the awesome CARMCATS Street Team for All Played Out (and everything Cora Carmack) I am taking part in the Bucket List Blog Tour. This is like the college bucket list Nell has throughout the book, but unfortunately without sexy Mateo Torres to help me :(

For my post I have....

1. Monopoly
My top board game has to be Monopoly. This game brings out the best and worst of me. I am so competitive that even if you are family I will take your money and force you to sell your property. Sorry, not sorry! But in all honesty this is the best game to get the whole family involved and have a great laugh. I am never disappointed with Monopoly-unless I lose of course ;)
2.  Scrabble
Scrabble is a close second for Board/Family Games Everyone Should Play. My family is half a word/literary family and half a mathematical/analytical family so this game can get crazy. So you have half playing for fun and half going for the points. All together though we have the best time playing and everyone gets involved!

3. Words With Friends
So I feel like this is cheating but I do love this game. This is basically like Scrabble again but I love Words With Friends on my phone! You have all the awesomeness of a regular game but I have also been able to verse authors that I love! Yes they beat me by many points but I still have the best time!

4.  Cluedo (Clue)
Cluedo is definitely a game that I will bring to the table as often as possible. It is the best way to learn your friends and family's poker faces! I don't have much family here in Australia but when I go back to London for a holiday to catch up with family this is one of the boardgames that always comes out. I have some very fond memories surrounding Cluedo.

5. Mafia
So there is an official version of this game but my friends and I use a simplified version. We each have a slip of paper that either says Mafia or Civilians. The number of Mafia people depends on the size of the group, usually we have 2. Everyone closes their eyes but the Mafia are called to open theirs. After, everyone opens their eyes and starts accusing each other. The aim of the game is to either have the Mafia outnumber the Civilians or the Civilians find out all the of the people who are Mafia. This is a fabulous game. Accusations come from every corner and everyone starts finding minuscule reasons why a certain person will be Mafia e.g. "She is trying not to smile so she has to be mafia. He doesn't make eye contact with anyone so he must be the mafia." This game basically guarantees a great time!

First person in her family to go to college? CHECK.
Straight A’s? CHECK.
On track to graduate early? CHECK.
Social life? …..yeah, about that….

With just a few weeks until she graduates, Antonella DeLuca’s beginning to worry that maybe she hasn’t had the full college experience. (Okay... Scratch that. She knows she hasn't had the full college experience).

So Nell does what a smart, dedicated girl like herself does best. She makes a "to do" list of normal college activities.

Item #1? Hook up with a jock.

Rusk University wide receiver Mateo Torres practically wrote the playbook for normal college living. When he’s not on the field, he excels at partying, girls, and more partying. As long as he keeps things light and easy, it's impossible to get hurt... again. But something about the quiet, shy, sexy-as-hell Nell gets under his skin, and when he learns about her list, he makes it his mission to help her complete it.

Torres is the definition of confident (And sexy. And wild), and he opens up a side of Nell that she's never known. But as they begin to check off each crazy, exciting, normal item, Nell finds that her frivolous list leads to something more serious than she bargained for. And while Torres is used to taking risks on the field, he has to decide if he's willing to take the chance when it's more than just a game.

Together they will have to decide if what they have is just part of the experiment or a chance at something real.
